As daylight hits we get a sense of how bad this all is…
We watch from the comfort of our living rooms and we don’t know what to say. We see fellow citizens go back into their neighborhood to find it looks as thought they have been in a war, the devastation is unimaginable, the look on people’s faces leave us feeling helpless. It’s total devastation.
These are people who live steps from the water, who depend on it for their livelihood. They live right there, and it’s gone. Most everyone’s displaced. They are frightened, confused, and they don’t know where help is going to come from. Those lives have been changed and will never be the same. They rely on each other to get through what life hands them.
We don’t know right now how we’re going to get this done but we know we will. I want to help and I want to enlist my friends to make a difference, to help in whatever way, small or larger, that we can. We alone are a drop in the bucket but together we are the ocean.
