Odds are better than Evens

When decorating a room here are some tips to keep in mind. Always think in odd numbers. Walls, furniture and floor or Prints, solids and pattern or One large, two small pieces of art work etc this will help the flow of the room. Your eye should constantly be moving never stopping on any one item in the room. The largest piece of furniture will determine the color pattern the room will embrace but this does not mean everything needs to match this piece. Play off of it have fun mix and match but always try to group in odd numbers. For example two chairs look out of place but when you add a small table in between they now look cozy. Redecorating a room can be costly and maybe your budget is not ready for that have you ever thought of rearranging your existing home. Collect all your decorating items place them on a table and re group them do the same with artwork. Painting a room can give it a whole new look without costing a fortune. Purchase new throw pillows and possibly a new window treatment can change the look dramatically. Remember to hang art work at eye level of the average person 5’6′. If your couch is a solid color purchase a strip and a print pillow this will give it some character. An inexpensive idea is taking a trip to the thrift store or a yard sale and purchase some accents possibly a can of spray paint might be needed but that is a small price to pay for a remolding project.  Decorating is fun and reflects who you are so truly there is no right and wrong style.

WHY IS COLOR IMPORTANT?

COLOR TENDS TO EVOKE STRONG EMOTIONAL RESPONSES. A DECORATOR USES COLOR AS A TOOL TO UNIFY PIECES IN A ROOM. THIS HELPS IN CREATING HARMONY. COLOR IS A DECORATOR’S BIGGEST WEAPON

WHY IS FURNITURE IMPORTANT?

ROOMS APPEAR LARGER AND SHOW MORE POSSIBILITIES WHEN FURNISHED. EMPTY ROOMS DO NOT HAVE MUCH AMBIANCE AND MAKE VISUALIZATION DIFFICULT FOR BUYERS. FURNITURE PLACEMENT IN A SPACE ALLOWS BUYERS TO GAUGE HOW THEIR OWN FURNISHINGS WILL FIT INTO THE ROOM.
