What we thought would be here forever will soon be forgotten. Remember when you visited your first mall. You thought this is so much easier than driving around town from store to store to find that perfect whatever. Soon people started meeting in food courts across the country on Friday evenings and seniors could be seen walking the perimeter at 6am. That has all changed and some say this shift will help save the consumer thousands per year.
The largest shopping mall ever created sits in South China with over 2,350 stores. There is only one problem 98% of the malls stores have vacated. Dubai has the second largest with over 1,000 stores and 15 million square feet of shopping. There is a problem would you find this type of shopping convent in 2014? I did not think so. We find ourselves short on time and trying to stretch our dollar further than ever before. Shopping malls do not solve the problem for us and it is starting to show across the country and around the world.
Seth Lawless has recently written a book called Black Friday the collapse of the American shopping mall. The photos depict abandoned malls where shattered glass, decayed walls, dead plants and mall rats are the only things left. Many news programs across the country report the same facts. They even reference Seths photos to illustrate that this has happened to over 400 shopping mall in the US alone.
We are seeing first hand the growing trend unfold before our eyes. Look around your neighborhoods at the abandon shopping malls. What will they turn into.
